Can anything beat the smell?
Five minutes from my home lies a secret nature reserve. Its roots stretch further than the eye can see, as it twists and turns to provide a mini set of lungs in the middle of Solihull. It’s a cute little place, as the sun struggles to beam on the forest floor, past the dense roof of treetops. One section opens to an empty field, perfect for summer picnics and small kick arounds.
When it rains, the scent of the rain is pungent and lasting, accentuated with the smell of nature and grass. So dense, you can almost smell it now.
The best type of travelling is getting lost amongst nature just around the corner.
It’s something everyone loves
What’s your favourite meal? Everyone has that one thing, that one meal — usually hot- that leaves your mouth watering. One whiff of its aroma transports you back in time, back when you first took that life-changing bite and experience those flavours all over again.
The Summer’s heat is melting me
I think I’m loving these short posts!
Let me tell you about the best ice cream I’ve ever had. I know many people will disagree with me, but what’s better than those Mr Whippie ice creams you get from the Ice Cream Van? A surprising and inconsistent little treat (unless you’re on good terms with the server) that takes a rough moment in the sweltering heat to provide a minute of pure childhood bliss?
Very local, very cool, and definitely a throwback into a rose-tinted past I still want to cling to. In my experience, the Ice Cream guys are very COVID-19 safe, and now offer contactless payment!
It’s time for a treat, so head on down to your local park and chase after the ice cream van.
Oscar Wilde is an icon everywhere you go
Another short post matching the slumber of heat — you know, the type of bursting sunshine tanning you within seconds. Anyway, this time, two years ago, I was surprised with a landmark honouring one of my all-time favourite writers — Oscar Wilde…
The Eiffel Tower — that’s the post
This will be a short post. It’s just a little nostalgic flashback on an experience rivalling all the riches in the world.
Since 2000, the main monument of Paris, nay France, has twinkled at night, outshining the stars. For 5 minutes, on the hour and every hour, until 1 am, Paris’ romantic structure glitters. It shimmers like a beacon, hailing dreamers across the horizon to illuminate a sense of wonder throughout the darkness.
Going to Paris in the heart of winter meant observing this phenomenon amongst the magic of Christmas. It was still unmatched.
If you ever cross the French border, go see the Eiffel Tower sparkle.
It’s truly a sight to behold
It’s an understatement to say Venice is pretty. It’s a testament to the human resilience to adapt to their circumstances. After all, the only way to get around Venice is by walking or boat.
The Grand Canal is one of the major canals in…
St Vitus Cathedral is your next must see!
It looks like the type of place harbouring a portal to the next realm. It’s creaky, and with an air of ecclesial benevolence, stepping over the threshold might be the very thing to get you praying. I’m talking about St. Vitus Cathedral…
